Labour website launched
8:35am Saturday 8th September 2012 in News
THE Labour group on City of York Council has launched a website attacking the Conservative opposition’s budget plans.
The site – www.yorktorytricks.co.uk – went live this week and claims Tory spending promises would be affordable only with a five per cent council tax rise next year or £3.8 million of additional cuts.
Coun Tracey Simpson-Laing , deputy Labour leader, said the Tories were making spending commitments their own Government made unachievable, but Tory leader Ian Gillies said the Labour council was “in chaos” and called the website attack a “juvenile” attempt to deflect attention from its own problems.
