BUSINESS professionals from across the county have been crowned the cream of the crop following their efforts in a corporate challenge at this summer’s York 10k.

More than 6,000 people pounded York’s pavements in the fourth annual Jane Tomlinson’s York 10K on Sunday August 5.

As part of a corporate challenge at the event, the times of the three fastest runners from 19 business teams that took part were collated and the firm with the quickest times were pronounced winners.

In first place was a team from Morrison Utility Services, Fast And Furious, who completed the course in a collective time of 2hrs 3mins 53 seconds.

Sports and recreational business organisation HASSRA Team 1 came second with a time of 02:08:31 and in bronze position were Egton Medical Information Systems Team 1 in 02:09:38.

HASSRA’s Andrew Goodair was the fastest corporate male, completing the 6.2 miles course in 36 minutes 23 seconds.

Stephanie Stephenson, from The Clarence Dockers, a team from Morrison Utility Services, sponsors of the corporate challenge, was the fastest female home in a time of 43 minutes 33 seconds.

Norrie Forbes, of Morrison Utility Services, presented trophies to the winning competitors at a reception at York Racecourse.

“This is a fantastic event which raises significant and much-needed funds for a broad range of charities at both national and local level and it was fantastic to see so many businesses taking part in the 2012 Corporate Challenge,” he said.

Sara Birkinshaw, event director, said: “Once again we had another fantastic Corporate Challenge which saw camaraderie at its best.

“It is always so great to see colleagues pulling together, spurring each other on and really supporting one another and helping them to complete this tough challenge.

“Everyone seemed to have really enjoyed the challenge and our gratitude goes out to Morrison Utility Services for sponsoring the event once again.”
