Pub scheme will ‘make city safer’
9:56am Friday 7th September 2012 in News
A GROUP of York licensees have formed a Pubwatch Scheme to try to reduce and prevent criminality and anti-social behaviour in the city.
The scheme is supported by the police and city council and enables partners to collect and share information.
Chris Bateman, chairman of York Pubwatch, said: “This is a fantastic scheme not only for the licensees and venues involved, but also for people of York as the scheme will continue to help to build on what is already a superb reputation for this historic city. As a group of licensees, we are dedicated to making York city a safer place within which to be entertained. We hope to do this by sharing information so that licensees can make informed decisions on who to let into their premises.”
The next meeting of the York Pubwatch scheme is due to be held at 3pm on Tuesday at Society Lounge & Bar in Rougier Street, York.
Licensees from the city centre and university areas are invited to the meeting. Email York Pubwatch secretary Adele Lord on adele@tokyoindustries.co.uk for further information.
