A TV presenter, writer and adventurer dropped in to York to share stories about his encounters with animals.

Ben Fogle was at York Explore yesterday to talk about his new book, The Accidental Naturalist, which recounts the true stories of his experiences with animals and how they changed his life.

The event was a sell-out, with tickets being snapped up in advance.

Mr Fogle first came to our screens on the BBC Millennium project Castaway, and has since become a popular face as a presenter of different television programmes including Animal Park, Countryfile and Crufts as well as making documentaries on Captain Scott, crocodiles and much more.

He has also raced across the Sahara; rowed across the Atlantic and crossed Antarctica in a foot race to the South Pole, and is an ambassador for WWF; a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and supports many charities including Hearing Dogs For The Deaf and Tusk.
