A YORK man has been commissioned as an officer at Sandhurst.

Second Lieutenant Oliver Rowley, 25, of South Bank, was officially made an officer at a ceremony at the Royal Military Academy in Surrey.

The former Knavesmire Primary and Millthorpe School pupil will join the 5th Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland in Canterbury as a development officer.
