Cars become stuck in field near Old Malton

TWO cars have become stranded in a field in North Yorkshire.

The cars were found stuck near the A64 in Old Malton at about 9.25am on Sunday. They will stay there until the field dries out enough for them to be moved, which is likely to be in about a week’s time.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said the car owners, local men aged 19 and 20, were issued with warnings for antisocial use of vehicles.

Coun Martin Dales, a Malton Town councillor who lives in Old Malton, said there had problems locally with irresponsible young drivers.

He said: “The town is fed up with mainly young drivers who tear around the town as if it were a Formula One race track.

“It is to be hoped that those responsible for damaging the fields in Old Malton will be brought to justice as it is grossly unfair for the farmers who are having a difficult enough time harvesting and drilling to have such unnecessary distractions.”

Hopefully by making them leave the vehicles there for a week it will teach them a lesson, a sensible tactic, punishment and deterent from the police and land owner if they were there illegally.

Let's hope some scrote doesn't vandalise them. That wouldn't be very nice.

Excuse you Sawday2 - but were they not vandalising someone else's property - serve them right if the farmer towed their cars of the field and left them someone more appropriate - in the middle of a field of pigs.

They've accidentally created a permanent dogging venue!

If I was the farmer I would play monster trucks... His field anything left in there is on his property. Whoops officer didn't see the cars it was dark and I wasn't expecting to find some scrotes car parked there.

Sweet natural justice.
I bet their mums told them off for having mud on their trouser-cuffs when they got home too.

Shame that the police were not keener to slow the little scrote bags down when they are tearing down commercial street late at night !

This site really should have smilies. Were they available I'm sure Sawday2 would have had a winky one.

Yes - they should have had permission from the farmer but its only a stubble field - what exactly is the damage that has been done ?
Far more irresponsible & dangerous are the tractor drivers leaving huge amounts of mud on the road and not a warning sign in sight.

It is just a stubble field. No damage done that has been highlighted. After all, these are probably young teenagers bored out of there skulls in boring Malton with nothing there for them to do (I know from personal experience). At least they are not out vandalising, robbing, fighting, taking drugs etc .

Give the kids a break.

If I were the farmer, i'd start ploughing the field and think rollocks to the little scroates, then sit down and watch them try to get the cars out of a ploughed field.

Boy, they'd be lucky that noone smashed out the windows, slashed the tyres and busted the headlights now wouldn't they ? Or...what if they returned to find it occupied by a flock of laying hens, surrounded by electrified fox deterrent fence ? ?

"Give the kids a break" ??????

Myself and many others grew up in smaller places than Malton, with even less to do, and had no cars to get anywhere interesting.

And then, even when we did end up having cars we went to interesting places.
By road.
Cos we knew that fields would get us nowhere.

The reporting style on this story is brilliantly dry.

In other news, a older lady was surprised to suddenly find black colouring around her eyes and her purse had disappeared.

A spokesman for the police said a local youth has been released on suspicion of anti-social use of fists and possession of a 'swag bag'.

A local councillor said "Like, crime n stuff. We need to deal, yeah? Who's with me?"

Can't you all leave them a lawn, you're all having a field day about these poor young saps!

They may have done all those things before they went for a drive!
Loved the comment about a permanent dogging site, perhaps that could be a new tourist attraction.

"Give the kids a break" ??????

Give the residents of Old Malton, Malton and Norton a break from the incessant noise and revving of the boy racers.

Just because they're bored doesn't give them license to trespass on someone's property and be a nuisance.

I wonder if there's a way of luring the rest of them onto this field & giving the local residents a couple of weeks rest?
Perhaps a startegically positioned Leanne or Shaznay at the Gate would do the job?

I'd have the muck spreader out pronto! Be criminal not to.
As for the yawn, kids havn't got nothing to do, what an absolute load of rubbish.
1. They have Cars, therefore Cars are designed to get people from A - B. They could go (beleive it or not)...Anywhere? Rather fantastic inventions are these Car things. To further blow your rather shallow, over-excusable, sympathetic to ferrel kids mind, places like The coast, cinemas, towns are much more interesting than stubble fields (I understand a stubble field might be more appealing than our pot-holed roads).
2. The excuse "nothing to do" is been over used, ever wondered why kids are becoming un-imaginative, much more hastle, and generally loitering and feel inclined to ride around in boy racer cars at McDonalds with one of disco daves glow sticks gaffer taped under the car.....sigh.. "because there is nothing to do"! WELL FIND something, idiots!
We are commenting on a 20 year old and a 19 year old? still need mummy and daddy to get them an Xbox to keep them from driving cars on local farmers fields, it's utterly baffling!
3. Not doing any harm? But if they have the ability to think this is normal behaviour, what else have they got the lack of basic public respect to do?
I'm all for a bit of fun, letting hair down, kids will be kids, but this is a 19 year old and a 20 year old.
Get the muck spreader out at least!
