Frank Paterson, of the Rotary Club of York, left, looks forward to the Dragon Boat Challenge with members and supporters of Copmanthorpe Football Club
The Rotary Club of York has recruited 36 teams for its tenth annual Dragon Boat Challenge race on the River Ouse later this month.
One of the new entrants in the event, which was postponed in July due to bad weather, will be a team from Copmanthorpe Football Club.
The group will be raising funds to increase their Ability Counts coaching sessions at the Oaklands Sports Centre in Acomb . The project is for boys and girls of all ages who have any disability.
Head coach Paul Bird said: “I hope being part of the Rotary Dragon Boat this year will raise our profile, as well as much-needed funds to continue and develop the services we provide.”
Darrell Hind, president of York Rotary Club said: “ It has been a massive undertaking to reorganise the deferred race and I’m very grateful to everyone involved for doing in two months what usually takes a year."
