3:53pm Monday 3rd September 2012 in News
THIEVES have stolen 36 bus wheels from a factory in North Yorkshire.
The brand new wheels, worth thousands of pounds and all fitted with tyres, were stolen from the Optare compound on Sherburn Industrial Estate, from pallets near the warehouse loading bays.
Police say the theft happened overnight between August 24 and 25, but they did not go public on it until today.
Officers have been examining CCTV footage and making local enquiries.
PC David Fulford, of Selby police, said: “This is an unusual theft and I am appealing to anyone with information that could help the investigation to come forward.
“If you saw any suspicious activity in the area of Sherburn Industrial Estate on the night of the offence, please contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.
“I would also like to hear from anyone who has been offered any of these wheels for sale in recent weeks.”
Anyone who can help police is asked to phone PC Fulford on 101, quoting reference 12120141404.
