Driver seriously injured after car hits tree

A DRIVER was seriously injured after his car hit a tree on an East Yorkshire road.

The collision happened just before 9am yesterday on the A166 between Bishop Wilton and Stamford Bridge, when a black Saab came off the road and landed in a ditch at the bottom of Garrowby Hill.

The male driver was airlifted to Hull Royal Infirmary, but his injuries, while serious, are not life-threatening. The road was closed for about five hours after the crash.

Humberside Police is looking to trace anybody who saw the Saab before the driver is believed to have lost control of the car, and anybody with information should phone the force on 101.
