Mother and son forced their way into grandmother’s home

A MOTHER could be jailed after she and her son were involved in a violent incident at his grandmother’s home.

Lisa Mason, 40, and Patrick Casey, 24, were in Boroughbridge on the anniversary of the death of her husband, Casey’s father, and visited Patrick Casey’s grandmother, Marion Hartley in Kingfisher Reach.

Prosecutor Kathryn Reeve said the mother and son had been drinking on August 10 and forced their way in to Mrs Hartley’s home.

After being subjected to verbal abuse, Mrs Hartley was knocked over, suffering bruising to her back and a hip.

The court was told neighbours intervened but they were met with abuse.

One man’s shirt was ripped, his arm was bitten and he was jumped on, the court heard. Miss Reeve said Mason later attempted to bite a police officer as he detained her son.

Casey, of Danelaw Gardens, Brompton, Northallerton, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault, and admitted damaging an ornament and using behaviour causing harassment, alarm or distress.

Mason, of Robinson Court, York, admitted assault and resisting a police officer.

Mason, already subject to a 35-week suspended prison sentence, will be sentenced at York Crown Court on September 27.

Casey was given a one-year community order with 120 hours of unpaid work, a curfew for six weeks and was told to pay £100 compensation to each attack victim.
