Sponsored head shave and leg wax raises funds for Guardian Angels unit
8:15am Friday 31st August 2012 in News
HOTEL staff have shown they are not afraid of losing a bit of hair for a good cause.
Employees at the Hilton York who braved a sponsored head shave and leg wax raised more than £200 for the Guardian Angels children’s unit at York Hospital .
All eyes were on Ryan Gaucci, deputy manager of the Hilton York, as he waved goodbye to his locks and head chef, Kevin Grant and sous chef, Dafydd as they grinned and bared for the leg wax.
Jenna Goodridge, conference and events co-ordinator, said: “It was a really fantastic and successful day for all. We were pleased to see the support from so many people and it was nice that the guests and staff from all departments could come and get involved and join in the fun.
“The manager did really well having all his hair shaved off.
“It was quite long, definitely a good few inches.
“The waxing looked very painful. I don’t think the chefs knew actually quite how much it was going to hurt.
The event was held in conjunction with Plush Spa.
The Hilton Foundation are holding a charity ball in November to raise money for Guardian Angels.
