THESE very different but striking pictures of Yorkshire scenes were chosen as the best entries in a competition run by York-based Benenden Healthcare.

The first is a brooding seascape captured at Whitby by Rob Harper, while the second is a photo of the famous spring daffodills at Clifford’s Tower, taken by call-centre worker Sam Simpson.

Mr Simpson said: “York is a very inspiring city and Clifford’s Tower is such iconic building.

“Every year the bank is covered in daffodils, which to me always screams spring has arrived.

“I did get a few funny looks while taking this photo, because I was pretty much lying down to get it.”

Benenden Healthcare Society ran an internal amateur photography competition, inviting all staff to submit their best Yorkshire-based images, the best of which would be published.
