Time-trial cyclist killed in A19 crash near Thirsk

A 75-YEAR-OLD cyclist has died after he was involved in a crash with a car while taking part in an organised time trial event in North Yorkshire.
Police said the accident happened on the northbound side of the A19 near Thirsk at about 5pm on Saturday.
The cyclist, from West Yorkshire, was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not yet been named by police.
The car driver, a 29-year-old from North Yorkshire, was taken to the Friarage Hospital. Witnesses are asked to contact police.
