Car on fire on the A64

A CAR on fire on the A64 has caused heavy traffic and lengthy delays.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said they received a number of calls from members of the public reporting the vehicle ablaze on the A64 just west of the A162 at the Tadcaster junction shortly before 11am today.

A fire spokeswoman said the fire had led to a large build-up of traffic on the eastbound carriageway.

Two fire crews from Tadcaster and one from Wetherby were sent to tackle the blaze.
