Entries flood in for RSPCA’s Young Photographer Awards

YORK’S budding photographers are invited to submit their best animal-themed images to a prestigious competition.

Thousands of entries have already flooded in nationwide for the RSPCA’s Young Photographer Awards.

Entries include much-loved family pets and wildlife.

There are now only two weeks left for young people to showcase their talent.

There are high hopes for the region after Lela Penistone, from Escrick , scooped one of the top prizes last year, winning an Olympus E-450 SLR camera.

The closing date for the RSPCA’s Young Photographer Awards is Monday, September 10.

The competition will be judged by photography professionals and presenter and wildlife expert Chris Packham.

Andrew Forsyth, chief photographer for the RSPCA, said: “This year’s deadline is looming and we’d hate anyone to miss out. If you’re thinking about entering now is the time to go for it – don’t delay.” The overall winner will go on a three-day photography break with wildlife photographer Danny Green, courtesy of Natures Images. Olympus cameras worth up to £500 are also up for grabs for winners and runners-up in each category.
