THE Olympic spirit returned to a York nursery as children competed in a sports day.

Straylands Day Nursery played host to a pint-sized games with about 15 children taking part in events such as relay, long jump, and an egg and spoon race.

The fun-filled afternoon was held in aid of the British Heart Foundation and took part on the Stray, Malton Road.

Rosslin Eadie, who works at the nursery, said: “Parents turned up and enjoyed it, and the children got medals at the end of the day. The sun was shining. There was no rain, thank goodness.”
