Liberty head to speak at city women’s event

SHAMI Chakrabarti, director of Liberty, the national council for civil liberties, is to speak to women at an event in York.

Shami is also chancellor of Oxford Brookes University, a governor of the British Film Institute, a visiting fellow of Nuffield College, Oxford, and master of the bench of Middle Temple. She was also recently invited to be one of six independent assessors advising Lord Justice Leveson in his public inquiry into the culture, practice and ethics of the UK Press.

She will speak at the Hotel Du Vin, in Tadcaster Road, on November 27 in an event organised by networking group Forward Ladies, which will take place from noon until 2pm.
