THIS bus was making a trial run of a unique journey - from York Minster to London’s Olympic Park via Acomb .

Paraclimbing champion Sianagh Gallagher, who attends York High School , was testing out the open-topped bus that will carry the Paralympic Lantern on August 24 when it visits York as part of the Paralympic Relay leading up to the Paralympic Games.

It will be at the Royal York Hotel to receive the flame on its arrival by train to York Station and will then take it and the civic party up Duncombe Place and via York Minster, Bootham, Water Lane, Carr Lane, Front Street and Gale Lane to Energise Leisure Centre, Cornlands Road, Acomb.

It is expected to be at the Minster at 2.15pm, Front Street at 3pm and the Leisure Centre at 3.15pm.

Earlier this year, Sianagh recently secured a gold medal in the National Paraclimbing Series 2012 in London, competing in the upper and lower limb category.

If its travelling by motor vehicle on that route it will take ages as they have taken a lane out at the top of Water end bridge and also along Borobridge road along to Ainsty Pub. Maybe just go by bike would be actually faster. All the best for those involved with the Paralympics.

It’s doubtful anyone will turn out to see this anyway

It'll be odd for a York open top bus to be seen in London, if it really does go all that way. I doubt there'll be as many people to see it though as the Olympic Cheesegrater will be seperated from the public due to being on the bus.
