Fulford Cross Allotments will play host to a fun day as York cultural events organisers YUMI celebrate winning new funding.

YUMI – the York Unifying and Multicultural Initiative – has recently been awarded funding by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.

It will showcase its plans for the coming years in a day which promises to include food from around the world and demonstrations of capoiera, a Brazilian martial art-based dance.

It will also be an opportunity to learn about Hands in the Earth, an upcoming book of photographs of the garden which will document the stories of some of the volunteers.

It will take place at the International Community Garden, Fulford Cross Allotments, on Saturday, September 1, between 11am and 4.30pm. Entry is £3 or £5 for the whole family.
