HOLIDAYMAKERS were in a spin in Museum Gardens for the first of three open-air exhibitions of an ancient form of clothmaking.

Spinners from Grace and Jacob craft shop, in Barleycorn Yard off Walmgate, are showing off their spinning skills and giving onlookers the chance to try for themselves several times this week.

They started yesterday in Museum Gardens and will stage another session tomorrow between 1pm and 3pm in Deans Park or in the Kafeneion café, Goodramgate, if wet. They will also host a spinning group at 6pm at the shop.

On Saturday, the spinners will return to Museum Gardens, between 1pm and 3pm, or if it rains, move to the Theatre Royal coffee shop.

The outdoor exhibitions will be with a spinning wheel and the indoor ones with a spindle.

Weve had a spinning exhibition at Cof Y Council ever since James Alexander arrived. Nothing new here.
