Driver in ‘critical condition’ after crash on A19 near York

A 57-YEAR-OLD man remains critical in hospital following a head-on crash on the A19 near York.
The man, from York, was about two miles north of Shipton by Beningbrough when his silver Rover and a black Vauxhall Meriva collided on a bend.
The accident happened at about 2pm on Tuesday and shut a stretch of the road for about four hours.
Any witnesses – in particular the driver of a white van following the Rover before the collision – are asked to phone police on 101.
