David Simpson, 24, from Gillamoor, near Kirkbymoorside, moves after ‘African jail riot’

The North Yorkshire man locked up in an African jail after stumbling across a massacre has been moved to house arrest following a riot at the prison in the Central African Republic he was being held in, it was reported last night.

David Simpson, 24, from Gillamoor, near Kirkbymoorside, has been in prison with his Swedish boss, Eric Marav, since March after discovering the corpses of 13 murdered gold miners in the bush while working as a safari guide.
