A YORK man has been appointed chairman of the Guild of Television Cameramen (GTC).

Keith Massey will serve two years in the role. He said: “I feel very honoured to be taking over the chair during the Guild’s 40th anniversary.

“My aim is to encourage excellence in all fields. Mediocrity is not an option for people who are operating as the eyes and ears of large television audiences.

“I would like to see the GTC being more assertive in protecting quality. I will endeavour to bring strong positive leadership to the GTC along with my colleagues on Council.”

Mr Massey received the prestigious Royal Television Society Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010.

I have had a number of dealings with Keith in his professional capacity and he is a genuinely nice man.Unlike some in the media he is not pushy or rude but always polite. Congratulations Keith.

Knowing Keith for many years, since I was knee high to a grasshopper, I can do nothing but reiterate your point. He is a true gent and goes above and beyond to help others.
