FREEMSONS have given a £5,000 boost to a £300,000 appeal to carry out improvements to York Hospital ’s stroke unit.
The donation was presented by the Lord Mayor, Coun Keith Hyman , to the York Teaching Hospital Charity in support of the Star Appeal for the unit.
Four York Lodges were represented and the chairman of the Provincial Grand Charity of Yorkshire North and East Ridings was also there.
The Star (Stroke Treatment And Rehabilitation) appeal, was launched last November, with the aim of helping to fund a huge overhaul and modernisation of the unit to boost patients’ recovery.
The first phase will be the installation of a track-hoist system to make it easier for them to get in and out of bed.
Meanwhile, the Freemasons’ Minster lodge and the Provincial Grand charity have also presented £1,280 to the orthopaedic ward for the purchase of equipment.
