THE lead actors in York’s Mystery Plays have been running through one of their big scenes in preparation for tomorrow’s opening night.

Ferdinand Kingsley, who plays both Jesus and God, and Graeme Hawley, who plays the Devil, are pictured in front of the ruins of St Mary’s Abbey in Museum Gardens.

Organisers said with only over a day to go to the first performance, about 24,500 tickets had been sold by yesterday afternoon for the Plays, which will be staged throughout August and are set to attract audiences of up to 1,400 each night.

My colleague, friend and an admirer of this newspaper (Charles Hunt) is directing Noah's Flood - I hope the Mystery Plays are a huge success and hope to visit them. Good luck and all the very best to all involved - a lot of work goes into these productions and I hope the sun smiles on all of you!!

I totally agree Jennifer. Is there any chance of selling any unsold tickets on the day for a tenner?
