Woman, 50, faces murder bid charge

A WOMAN who allegedly stabbed another woman in the back in an attack on the outskirts of York has denied charges of attempted murder.

Marina Marchi, 50, of Florida Keys, Hull Road, Wilberfoss, appeared before York Crown Court facing two charges – attempted murder and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The incident happened at Manor Park Lodges, in Sheriff Hutton Road, Strensall , on Wednesday, April 4.

Marchi allegedly stabbed Kelli Barrett with a kitchen knife and was arrested by officers at the scene after a witness to the alleged attack raised the alarm.

Marchi allegedly drove to the address in Sheriff Hutton Road from Leeds, armed with the knife.

Marchi, dressed in a white and pink striped shirt and a pink jumper knotted around her shoulders, spoke in court only to confirm her personal details and enter not guilty pleas to both charges, when she appeared before the Recorder of York, Judge Stephen Ashurst. She was remanded in custody.

A three-day trial has been provisionally listed to begin on Monday, September 10.
