Minnie the ten-week-old shar pei
MEET Minnie the pooch – the puppy hoping to win the judges over at a pet show this summer.
The ten-week-old shar pei is one of dozens of dogs entered in this year’s Thompson’s Country Store Pet Show, to be held at Murton Auction Centre next Saturday.
Pets will compete for the title of best animal in five categories; with their owners each hoping to take home the top prize of a year’s free supply of animal feed.
Two runners-up in each category – best small animal, best small and large dogs, best cat and best exotic animal – will receive a rosette.
Jayne Holdsworth, from Haxby , York, said of Minnie: “I’ve been nagging my husband for years to let us get a dog and we finally found this one. I entered her because everyone says she’s absolutely beautiful.
“She is ten weeks old and deserves to win the competition as she is such a friendly dog and is also a hungry Horace so the free food would be fantastic.”
