Royal Recitals ring out in York Minster

FANS of classical music are being invited to a season of Summer Royal Recitals on Saturday evenings at York Minster.

Over eight consecutive Saturdays, from July 28 to September 15, eight eminent organists will perform a series of concerts featuring a wide range of music, some inspired by Royal celebrations.

Organisers said the recitals would highlight much of the talent that has been nurtured and developed at the cathedral, with Francis Jackson performing on August 4, John Scott Whiteley on August 25 and Philip Moore on September 1.

The Royal Recitals are part of the Minster’s Best Of British summer, intended to reflect both the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the cathedral’s support for Team GB at the Olympics.
