OFFICERS investigating an incident in which former middleweight boxing champion Henry Wharton was seriously injured, are reviewing CCTV footage taken from a nearby building.
Mr Wharton was hit by a car following a suspected travellers’ fight in Murton Lane on Saturday, and remains in hospital with serious head, back and ankle injuries.
Detective Chief Inspector Nigel Costello, of North Yorkshire Police, has urged anyone with information to pass it on to investigating officers as soon as possible.
He said: “If anyone has any information about this incident it is important that it is passed to the police who are investigating the circumstances.
“The officers dealing with the case need to build up a picture of what happened and any details no matter how small should be directed to the police or Crimestoppers. If you have information and haven’t shared it with the police yet I urge you to come forward as soon as possible.”
Four people have been arrested and released on bail in connection with the attack.
