North Yorkshire members in Lindisfarne Gospels choir

VOICES from North Yorkshire will be part of a 1,000-strong choir which is to help mark the return of a historic religious book to its spiritual home.

The choir will stage a concert in Durham to coincide with the July opening of an exhibition celebrating the Lindisfarne Gospels coming back to the north east.

The Gospels have journeyed across the north of England with the remains of St Cuthbert, and those taking part in the Lindisfarne Gospels Community Choir will have the chance to be trained by opera singer and Durham University chancellor Sir Thomas Allen in a series of masterclasses. It will feature participants from York, as well as Lindisfarne, Carlisle and other points along the Gospels’ route.

And one of the places St Cuthbert's body rested was possibly Peasholme Green in York - hence St Cuthbert's church there. But, you can't expect The Press to know stuff like that.
