Plan for bedrooms behind Rose and Crown pub

A BLOCK of 14 letting bedrooms could be created at the back of a York pub.

Punch Taverns has applied for planning permission for the two-storey scheme on a site currently used as car-parking behind the Rose and Crown, in Lawrence Street.

They say the plan would make a “positive contribution” to the area.

City of York Council planners are expected to make a decision in August.

From yesterday's 'Independent'

"Punch Taverns is the rump of the empire built up by former banker Giles Thorley into the biggest pubs company in Britain. Built on debt, it crashed in the credit crunch."

Ah, Bankers...don't you love them?

Isn't there already a budget hotel across the road at the old garage? Drunk people there getting hammered. Literally!
