Askham Bryan College hosts InsideOut music festival
9:16am Monday 4th June 2012 in News
CORONATION Street star and radio presenter Craig Charles was one of the star turns as York’s music scene was showcased at a one-day festival of tunes and art.
Askham Bryan College played host to InsideOut, which brought together musicians, artists and promoters for an array of indoor and open-air performances over a 15-and-a-half-hour period.
Craig donned the headphones to present his funk and soul show, with the festival – which is among the events staged to celebrate York 800 – also featuring live sets from indie-rockers The Young Knives, blues and jazz singer-songwriter Liz Green and producer and DJ Will Saul.
It was organised by YO1 Events, which brought together its musical roster for InsideOut, and backed by city-centre live music venue The Duchess, with the aim now being to establish it as an annual event.
Saturday’s activities also included a celebration of vintage style and music by York Does Vintage, local ales courtesy of the Best Of British Jubilee Tent and an opportunity for visitors to record a song, create the artwork and produce their own record through a Make Your Own Tape workshop.
