Two arrested in Pocklington drugs raid

A MAN and a woman were arrested and a haul of suspected drugs seized in a raid on an East Yorkshire home today.

A team of about 12 officers executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 at a property on Volage Court, in Pocklington, at about 9am.

Officers from Pocklington and Wolds Weighton, supported by officers from Howden, Goole and the Humberside Force Dog Section, stormed the property.

A woman aged 30 and a 21-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of the possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply. They remain in police custiody in Goole while enquiries by Humberside Police continue.

Officers seized a number of items believed to be controlled drugs. The substances have now been removed from the premises and sent for tests.

Sgt Pete Rogers, of Pocklington police, said the raid was successful and said there would be further raids in the local area.

“This is as a result of intelligence been built up as recent times and working with that over the last couple of weeks,” he said.

“It has been a good result and sends out the message that drugs in our community will not be tolerated.

“Following the raid we carried out a leaflet drop in the area to inform them about the operation and to encourage anybody with information about drugs to come forward and let us know.

“We take any information like this very seriously. From intelligence we have received from members of the public we have recently undertaken drug stops in the area and they will continue and it is likely other warrants will be taken in the area soon.”
