A PENSIONER had to be rescued by fire crews after she became trapped in a deckchair for six hours.
The firefighters heard the 83-year-old woman calling for help from her balcony as they passed her house in Northway, Scarborough, on Sunday afternoon. The fabric in the chair had ripped and left her unable to get out. Crews gained entry to her house via a neighbour’s home before managing to free the woman, who was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
“This was an unusual incident, but firefighters are trained for every eventuality,” said a spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
