THE head chef of a North Yorkshire hotel will be offering bundles of asparagus ideas and tasty recipes in a demonstration at the York Asparagus Festival on Saturday.
David Spencer, who is known for his seasonal seafood menu at the Cliffemount Hotel in Runswick Bay, Whitby, will speak at 2pm at the festival in Parliament Street.
The event will feature hourly performances from local experts and chefs, a Festival Café featuring dishes made using local asparagus, and a festival market from May 25 to 27.
He said: “You can’t beat Yorkshire asparagus.
“It’s with us for such a short season but is spectacular in that time for both flavour and versatility.
“It’s not just great with a hollandaise (although this is my ultimate favourite); its tender, juicy spears can be used in a myriad of ways. I’m very excited to be showcasing the best of it at the York show and also at the Cliffemount this month.”
