Voluntary groups awarded grants for innovation

VOLUNTARY groups across North Yorkshire have been awarded grants from North Yorkshire County Council’s Innovation Fund.

Among those was Groundwork North Yorkshire for Selby Garden Enterprise, a gardening service providing training and work experience, which received £50,000.

Wilf Ward Trust’s Roll With It social enterprise which delivers sandwiches in Pickering, was awarded £50,000; Unit 3 at Easingwold, a social enterprise run by Adsetts Partnership, offering a bespoke letterpress print service for charity shops and an ironing service, won £48,500; Disability Action Yorkshire won £50,000 for short-term training opportunities at a furniture enterprise in Harrogate; Rural Action Yorkshire for Grow Your Own Community, which is developing seven community hubs in rural communities offering preventative social care and early intervention, was awarded £49,600; and Purple Patch Arts for All Together Now, a self-sustaining organisation in Harrogate and Craven run by and for people with a learning disability, was given £49,350.

The fund contains £1.6 million to be allocated over three years to innovative projects which aim to transform the way adult social care services are delivered and £630,000 has been awarded to 12 voluntary sector projects in this second round.
