Events in York to celebrate Inspire Day

A SERIES of events will be held around York today to celebrate Inspire Day, to encourage residents to get more out of life or get more active.

Events will include Today’s Youth: Tomorrow’s Leaders. It works with ten School Sport Partnerships in North Yorkshire, aiming to encourage pupils to volunteer in sport at school and in the community, and training them to organise Olympic and Paralympic Games-related projects.

York High School will host Let It Row, Let It Row, with time trials on school rowing machines for pupils to be selected to join the project which will get them out on the river under the instruction of St Peter’s teacher Jamie McLeod, who rowed for Great Britain in the 1976 and 1980 Olympic Games.
