York councillors in cabinet reshuffle

LEADING councillors in York have been reshuffled and given new job titles.

Westfield councillor Dafydd Williams will become City of York Council’s cabinet member for crime and stronger communities, with Coun Sandy Fraser – who has held the crime remit since Labour won control of the authority last year – switching to the role of cabinet member for environmental services, including street cleaning, waste issues and parking.

A newly titled post of cabinet member for leisure, culture and tourism will be held by Coun Sonja Crisp, while Coun Dave Merrett’s cabinet position will change from city strategy to transport, planning and sustainability. The changes came into force yesterday. Council leader James Alexander said: “I’m sure we have a strong team to deliver on the commitments we’ve made in our second year in administration.”

90% of complaints to Councillors allegedly concern dog dirt and drains, so perhaps these causes could have had their own supremo. Nominations please....?

Nick Clegg, he would have no problems with the smell; he gets dumped on most days

Please tell Cllr Crisp is no longer responsible for "Inclusion". She is the least inclusive person I have ever met!

Do you mean a bad hand of cards? A pack will always have the same cards however shuffled.

So true!
If anyone has reliable background knowledge on the real reasons behind this shuffle please let us know.

Obvious to those who follow the Council's goings on - the red peril (Sonja) has also lost Neighbourhood Management eg Ward Committees which are now non existent thanks to her meddling as well as equality and inclusion. Pity Alexander did not ditch her completely before she wrecks Visit York but obviously there is no one else with her "intellect" available to take on the high paying Cabinet post.
