Serious delays for rail passengers
8:50am Tuesday 15th May 2012 in News
RAIL passengers faced serious delays on journeys between York and London after a person was struck by a train.
Yesterday’s incident, which involved East Coast’s 6am train from York to Kings Cross, happened at St Neots station.
The train was eventually taken to Peterborough, where passengers were transferred to another train, said an East Coast spokesman. He said two fast lines were closed, with trains having to go on slower lines, causing delays of up to 90 minutes for people travelling in both directions.
The fast lines were reopened later, but knock-on delays were still being experienced by the early afternoon.
