A PIZZA delivery man has been robbed at knifepoint in York.
The 27-year-old Domino’s delivery man was taking a pizza to a property in Kingsway West, near the junction with Thanet Road, at about 1.50am on Saturday, when he was approached by a man who threatened him with a knife and ordered him to hand over cash.
The robber, who had covered the lower half of his face, took the money, the pizza and thermal delivery bag before running along Thanet Road and up Gale Lane, after which he disppeared from view.
The victim was not injured in the incident but very shocked, police said.
Detective Sergeant Ash Khan, of York CID, said: “This was a very frightening incident against an innocent person going about his work. We are particularly keen to trace the pizza box and bag. Police officers have been carrying out searches in the area today as well as house-to-house inquiries.
But members of the public can also help us by letting us know if they find any discarded pizza boxes or bags on their property.”
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the Kingsway West and Thanet Road area from 12.15am or anyone who saw the suspect running from the scene to contact them.
They also want to trace the pizza box and thermal delivery bag, as well as a large black handled knife, possibly a bread knife, which may have been discarded in the area.
Officers believe the items may have been dumped in someone’s garden or bin in the area.
• A man in his twenties has been arrested in connection with the incident, and has been released on police bail.
