Wembley Wallabies come from Down Under, hoping to see City go up

A DIE-HARD York City fan is so keen to see her heroes at Wembley that she is travelling half-way round the world to be there.

Laura Warwick is flying in from Perth, Australia, to take in the Minstermen's historic double-header this weekend and next.

The City fanatic followed City home and away before emigrating with her boyfriend Ian Sewell, 30, last year, and says she couldn't bear to miss out on City's big days against Newport County in the FA Trophy Final and Luton Town in the Blue Square Bet Premier Play-Off Final.

She hopes this Saturday's FA Trophy Final against Newport County will deliver the perfect present, as she celebrates her 29th birthday on the day of the game.

Laura and Ian booked their flights home as soon as City reached the Trophy final, and decided to delay their return until after the Play-Off final - and have had their faith rewarded.

Laura, originally from Boroughbridge Road, said: "I usually make most home games and several away games, but because we moved here in July last year I haven't been to a game all season - and I've really missed going.

"So as soon as we got through to the trophy final I knew I just had to make the trip. Games like that are always a big family event for us, so I'm looking forward to this one being even bigger.

"I'm very excited about two trips to Wembley and more importantly only being one game away from the Football League."

Laura was at City's unsuccessful appearances at the new Wembley in 2009 and 2010, but tips the Minstermen to make it third and fourth time lucky, beating Newport 2-0 and Luton 1-0.

"It's definitely our time for success, the management and team deserve it and so do the fans."

In Perth, she follows City via twitter, The Press website and Radio York online but managed to watch Monday's play-off semi-final win over Mansfield live on TV - and even spotted her dad and brother in the crowd.

Between the Wembley matches, she hopes to catch up with friends and family, and added: "I'll be eating all the food that I miss - traditional fish and chips and real bacon mostly! I'm also looking forward to buying a round of beers in a proper pub for the price of a single beer in Australia."

That is a great story and I hope they see City win 2 more trophies than ManU this year - who would have thought that?

I won a trophy this year in an easter egg hunt. Do you think that makes my better thank Manchester United. Would York rather be in a tin pot trophy final and the non league play off final or 2nd in the Premier League? Have some perspective at least.

I think City have put it in perspective, they are going to Wembley twice, tin pot trophy or non league playoff, what does it matter, their players aren't overpaid prima donna's who care more about their hair and pay packet than actually playing, York City Players have passion and pride in their team and I hope they succeed.
