Hotel Ibis signs bid refused by planners

THE owners of a York hotel have been prevented from putting up two new signs outside the building.

Agents acting for the Hotel Ibis, on The Mount, wanted to fit an illuminated sign and another sign which would not have been lit up, but planners at City of York Council turned down the application.

They said the illuminated sign would be “bulky, incongruous and intrusive” and would harm the appearance of the Grade II-listed building where the hotel is based.

ing york lives or dies on its tourist industry i would have thought that they could be more accommodating.
