• "What a game! But the resolution and team spirit of one of Bootham Crescents best sides saw York City through to successive Wembley weekends with a single goal from Mattie Blair. Physically they were once again on the receiving end but the discipline was immense. Ingham and the defence were simply magnificent and Mansfield did not create a single match winning opportunity. Mills and his team have done an excellent job on team fitness because City far from fading in extra time took the game to Mansfield. Yes we could have won by another couple of goals towards the end but by this time it was route one for Mansfield in the closing minutes and York coped admirably. Words do not do justice to the way I feel about this superb team which now compares favourably with any side that has graced Bootham Crescent in its long history. With the playing surface at Wembley we could see the City reach its potential. Congratulations to everybody associated with this victory. It would be unfair to single out anyone in the final reckoning."
