HUNDREDS of the young and young-at-heart enjoyed a multi-coloured pageant of fun, sporting prowess and royalty as the sixth annual Haxby and Wigginton Scarecrow Festival got under way this weekend.
More than 133 scarecrows were on show in five different trails, all aimed at raising money for Mercy Ships, a charity which sends medical supplies by sea to developing countries.
Organisers also hoped to make some money for local groups.
This year, many of the creations reflected the dual national themes of 2012 - the Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics.
But there were also others, such as a clown, pictured doing synchronised juggling with its creator, Elizabeth Middleton.
The festival ends today.
