More York streets could get 20mph limit (From York Press)

• "A 20mph limit for the terraced streets around South Bank etc. and the narrow roads in the St. Benedict's area is a perfectly valid proposal as 30mph is potentially dangerous in these streets. It would be interesting to find out the implementation cost though - given that it wouldn't be policed and it's virtually impossible to reach 30mph around there anyway.
  
  As for Bishopthorpe Road and Scarcorft Road, 20mph limits on such roads will simply not be adhered to, as proven by earlier contributors - and understandably so. Any right-minded individual would appreciate that 20mph (max.) on an arterial route is both completely inappropriate and wholly disproportionate to any supposed safety benefits.
  
  It's also clear that Ms. Semlyn has either failed to grasp even the basics of vehicle engine efficiency, traffic flow, business reality etc. or, as is more likely, is simply emitting more hot gas and nonsense than a car of clowns travelling at 20mph in 3rd gear."
