YOUNGSTERS at a York primary school were joined by the Lord Mayor of York and the city’s Sheriff for a talk about democracy and the city’s history.

As well as discussing York’s rich heritage, pupils at Park Grove Primary School were taught about democracy and the job of the Lord Mayor and Sheriff.

As part of the York 800 celebrations, the Lord Mayor York, Coun David Horton, and the Sherrif of York, Alan Deller, of pair are aiming to visit all primary schools in the city.

Coun David Horton said: “I was delighted to attend Park Grove Primary School and to talk about our city’s history.”
