Festival for over-50s in the pipeline

PLANS have been unveiled for York’s 8th annual 50+ Festival.

The event, staged by the York Older People’s Assembly (YOPA) and involving dozens of events for the over-50s, will be staged between Saturday, September 29, and Sunday, October 7.

Festival co-ordinator Sue Lister said there had been much to celebrate at the 2011 event.

“We want to build on our creativity, diversity and social inclusion,” she said.

“We welcome events both large and small from all groups and individuals who want to ‘accentuate the positive’ of being over 50.”

She said all events would go in the festival programme, which would be available from early September. To discuss possible festival events, Sue can be contacted on 01904 488870.

Applications for stands at the Festival Information Fair on Thursday, September 13, are available from the YOPA office by calling 01904 634661 and on the website www.yorkassembly.org.uk

It's a bit cramped and dark in here but having a festival is a great idea. There's not much else to do for us over-50s in the pipeline...
