Double murder suspect arrested

THE man at the centre of a massive North Yorkshire murder hunt has been arrested in Leeds.

James Allen, who is suspected of killing 50-year-old Whitby woman Julie Davison and 81-year-old Middlesbrough man Colin Dunford, was spotted by an off-duty police officer travelling to work early today.

The officer called in colleagues for support and the 36-year-old man was swiftly arrested in Crown Point Road in south Leeds at 7.20am on suspicion of murder in connection with both incidents.

Police said inquiries were ongoing and thanked members of the public for their support.
