A RAPPER who created songs for York City’s last two trips to Wembley has done it again as the club prepares for the FA Trophy final – and this time he hopes it will help propel them to victory, writes Roo Thorp.

Chuitar recorded the song, York City State Of Mind – a reworking of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ hit Empire State Of Mind – in his bedroom.

It features, for the first time, a music video of footage from various City games at Bootham Crescent and Wembley, along with matches at Luton and Alfreton, all filmed on an iPhone.

The 36-year-old, alias Kit Simon, whose father lives in York, has been a City fan since 1987.

He has previously written raps for their appearances at Wembley in 2009 – when it was the club’s official FA Trophy Cup Final song – and for the play-off final in 2010.

Chuitar said the previous two songs had a brilliant reception from other fans. “I just blooming well hope it helps us win this time.” he said.

City spokeswoman Sophie Hicks said it would be adopted as the club's official FA Trophy anthem. She said: “Everyone at the club from players to our manager Gary Mills thinks it is great.

“Since I heard it for the first time this morning, I can't get it out of my head, it’s so catchy.

“We are aiming to send a copy of the song to Wembley for it to be played on May 12 and it will be great if we can get supporters to sing along. Thanks go to Chuitar for another memorable Wembley tune for the Club."
