Big queues as Easter getaway begins

9:00am Saturday 7th April 2012

THOUSANDS of people keen to make the most of the bank holiday weekend have taken to the roads.

Yesterday motorists, many heading for the coast, were delayed on the A64 between the Hopgrove roundabout and Grimston Bar.

However, the AA said Easter was not likely to be as busy as last year on the roads as most schools broke up on March 30, meaning getaway traffic has been spread over the week.

For those staying in North Yorkshire, weather forecaster MeteoGroup said today was expected to be mostly dry with occasional brightness with highs in temperature of five to eight degrees celsius.

Tomorrow is expected to be cloudy and damp with temperatures of ten to 12 degrees celsius and Monday will start with dry weather before becoming wet and windy with highs of nine to 11 degrees celsius.
